Martin has been spending some of the last four months arranging music for fabulous singer Annjo K. Greenall, with whom he performs as a duo. The arrangements are based around mrs Greenalls translations of norwegian pop song lyrics (originally sung in english) into nynorsk, and the project is an exciting creative process for both artists. The process of arranging songs is still ongoing, and hopefully there will be enough material for a full-length CD before long. The duo made their debut appearance at last year's Julejazz in Trondheim, and on february 20th the duo will make an appearance at Oversatte Dager in Oslo! Stay tuned for updates on this one-of-a-kind collaboration.

Finally, it looks like Martin's debut trio album is starting to become a reality! Together with one of Norway's finest drummers, Håkon Mjåset Johansen, and seasoned veteran and long-time friend and collaborator Aksel Jensen playing double bass, Martin will record a bunch of new and old tunes of his own early this march. The record is set to be released later this spring on Oslo-based label Just for the Records.

Through the years, Martin has performed with a number of big bands in concert and on record, but february 14th will mark his first appearance with a professional, 100% geniune big band. Knut Lauritzen big band is a traditional/contemporary large jazz ensemble, consisting of some of the region's finest instrumentalists. The Valentine's Day concert at Dokkhuset in Trondheim will feature arrangements by canadians Gil Evans and Rob McConnell, top-notch soloists and spotless ensemble playing on these hard-swinging tunes. Martin Högberg had the great pleasure of playing guitar at the first performance of norwegian composer Bodvar D. Moe's pieces "Vårlys" and "Jord og Himmel". The performance took place in Sandnessjøen in northern Norway, and also featured soloists Eva K Brandth (violin) and Rune Arnesen (percussion) plus the amazing Helgeland Sinfonietta under the direction of Peter Szilvay.
